On March 5th in Virginia Beach facility Paul Chelimo and other former Kenya runners now running for the US, line up in an attempt to break Galen Rupp's record of 13:01.26 in 5000m indoors. The record is an American record.

Dubbed as Fire Recovery indoor 5000m, the event saw the rise of Emmanuel Bor who ran a world indoor lead in a time of 13:05.60  beating the race favorite Paul Chelimo to the second position. Adorned with the US army singlet sponsored by Nike, Bor rules the roost by running behind Chelimo before taking over after pacemakers.

Thanks to Benard Keter and Willy Fink who did exquisite pacing. The former attain 1600m in 4:09.89 while the latter reach 3000m in a time of 7:47.94. The duo was aided by the light-speed pacing.

After 3000m Emmanuel Bor roared his engine full of gas opening a gap between him and Chelimo, at this point he was right inside the record. With three and a half laps to go, his projection was 12:58.5.

In the last, two laps it became elusive to maintain the record pace. nonetheless, he managed 13:05.60. putting him the second-fastest on the American all-time list after Rupp. Paul Chelimo (13:12.5 ), and Willy  Fink (13:34.60) came second and third respectively.
