Kiplimo set to chase Haile's 59:24 in New York half marathon

In 2007, Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia run scintillating 59:24, the current course record for New York half. Amazingly, Haile is the only one, to have run under 60 minutes in New York.

It remained to be seen, whether Kiplimo will break Haile's course record and become the second person to run under one hour in the USA Capital.

The World half-marathon champion, however, opines that it might be difficult to break the course record.

Benard Koech (58:41) hold the fastest time in the US soil. But due to the IAAF eligibility, the time was not recognized as US all-comers record.

Sammy Kitwara hold the all-comers record in 58:48 (Philadelphia Distance run 2011). As it is, New York course, may not be the right place to talk about all-comers record.

Kenya's Kennedy Kimutai (58:28) is ranked the second fastest in the paper after Jacob Kiplimo.

Marofit Maourad MAR (59:33), Galen Rupp USA (59:47) and Edward Cheserek KEN (60:13) are some of the notable athletes chasing the glory on Sunday.
