Life begins at forty, Sharon Cherop performance say it all. The 40-year-old won Milano city marathon last Sunday in 2:26:13.

Only at sixteen, Cherop represented Kenya in 5000m at World junior championship, held in Santiago, Chile in 1999. She finished third, to win a Bronze medal.

After World junior championship in 1999, not much is said about Cherop in athletic. 

It was not until 2010, where she started majoring in marathons. Her debut came at Twin cities marathon in 2010, before going for a win in Toronto waterfront marathon (2:22:43)

The following year (2011) she worn a bronze medal in Daegu World athletics championship in Korea. However, her major breakthrough came in 2012, when she won Boston marathon in 2:31:50.

After going for maternity leave in about 2015, Cherop resurfaced back in 2018  with an enormous win in Eldoret city marathon in Kenya.
